Team JFJ are asking for your help to keep our West Auckland children warm and well this winter.

In 2013 JFJ supported the Middlemore Foundation "Jammies in June" initiative, which is a fantastic effort, hugely supported and driven by a team of fundraisers.

In 2014 it was decided to support our local West Auckland community by collecting donations of NEW pyjamas, onesies, dressing gowns, bedsocks, blankets and our intention is to do the same again in 2015 in our own small way during the month of June. Facilitation of the distribution of the bedwear donated is through the Well Foundation.

Noone likes the thought of children being cold, or parents in a position where they cannot provide adequate warmth especially at night. During winter the rate of preventable illness especially respiratory ailments in children escalates. Pyjamas are as valuable for what they bring as much as what they keep away.

Supporting the Army of Jammies collection is about helping others in whatever way we can. It's about warming them up so hopefully we won't have to spend a lot of money in hospital because their asthma has flared up again.

For struggling families, hard as they try, the budget doesn't stretch to warm sleepwear. If one child brings a cold home from school, everybody gets it.

If children have warm pyjamas, and a warm bed and are not sleeping in crowded conditions, they are much less likely to get those respiratory infections, and to be able to stay at school and learn.

We will gladly accept your donations of NEW pyjamas, onesies, dressing gowns, bedsocks, blankets in the collection box in store at John Franich Jewellers.  It doesn't have to be limited to children, adults need looking after too.

Make someone's day - A mile wide smile will greet a simple gift of jammies.
